Well first of all what fantastic achievement for these young men to reach the under 16’s final at the ages of 9 and 12.

Both players showed outstanding knowledge and skill of both the attacking side of the game of snooker, as well as the tactical side with some terrific safety play.

In fact both performed ‘way beyond there years’ with some very impressive all round play.

In the end it was Samuel who scored well in both frames, and had the edge on the safety front taking the best of three frame match 2-0.

Congratulations to both players for putting on a performance that the 25 strong crowd really appreciated.

Special congratulations however to the winner Samuel Lee Stevens at the age of 12, LCC u16’s Champion 2017.

U18’s Leeds City Championship Samuel Lee Stevens (age 12) V Lewis Harper (age 13)

Once again a fantastic achievement for these two young men to reach the under 18’s final at the ages of 12 and 13.

Again the standard of play for these youngsters was unbelievably good, and the crowd remained to watch the play.

Previous winners including Kuldish Johal, and Oliver Lines were also in the audience and keen to offer praise to both players.

Lewis’s recent experience of playing for the ‘Leeds Team’ in the Yorkshire league was proving to be a big advantage as he took the first frame with some impressive all round play.

However Samuel was certainly not lying down, has he himself played some excellent snooker to lead the frame up until the blue ball was potted.

And it was this blue ball that proved to be the difference in a very closely contested frame.

After Lewis attempted to pot the ball in the bottom right had corner pocket, he missed however the ball run all the along the bottom cushion only to drop into the opposite pocket, a huge fluke…

Lewis then potted the pink and pinched the second frame to Samuel’s disappointment.

Frame three proved to be the shortest of the night and to the benefit of Lewis, both players on having 10 visits each to table with Lewis scoring on every visit except two.

Lewis took the third frame and the match with a 3-0 win.

Well done to both players, however congratulations to Lewis Harper U18’s LCC Champion.

Thanks go to Peter Walker for an excellent refereeing display.

28 Mar 2017**Bramley Villagers claim the Stan Brooke Team Trophy**

After edging out Drighlington last night in a close fought affair. Not a great scoring occasion but crucial pots on the final colours by both teams ensured the match was still in the balance going into the final frame. John Metcalfe (Bramley Villagers) had a 56 point advantage going into the last frame with Mark Chester (Drighlington), giving 17 start to Mark, the lead was 39 but this proved to be enough as John saw the frame out safely to see the trophy heading to Bramley Villagers.

Unlucky Drighlington, great achievement making it to the final. A big thank you to NSC, once again providing an excellent venue and playing facilities. Thank you also to Alex Crum, match referee for officiating an excellent final.
