15 Feb 2017**RAPER TAMES O'BRIEN IN THE END!**

Past winner Scott Raper eventually secured his place in the final of the Leeds City Individual Snooker Championship on Tuesday, defeating first time semi-finalist Ian O’Brien by 4 frames to 2.
The first frame was very cagey with the lead exchanging hands a number of times until Ian potted the last 6 colours to win on the black – 55-44 - Ian 1-0.
Scott won the second frame 62-17 after Ian potted a red but unluckily then saw the black disappear in the centre pocket from a ridiculous angle. Scott stepped in and cleared the table of the remaining balls in two consecutive visits – Level 1-1.
Another very cagey 45 minute 3rd frame, saw Ian draw level with 14 points gained from 3 consecutive fouls and misses after laying a very difficult snooker, before once again winning the frame for the second time on the black – 62-54 – Ian 2-1 (Interval).
Scott was not his normal fluent self and the 51 year old Harehills stalwart with the silky smooth cue action was coping better on the notoriously difficult Northern’s centre table.
After the interval things changed and Scott now more positive took the 4th frame 55-21 in just 10 minutes – Level 2-2.
Frame 5 was the best of the night for Scott, as breaks of 59 and a clearance of 56 took him into the lead for the first time – 120-16 – Scott 3-2.
After the 5th frame things did not look good for Ian, but back he came in the 6th and rallied to put Scott off his stride again. Ian took an early lead but then Scott recovered to move in front so that by the colours there was little in it. Ian potted an unbelievable brown done the side cushion and looked like taking the frame, but a miss on the blue allowed Scott to take the frame and the match by potting the blue and pink - 59-38 – Scott 4-2.
WELL DONE SCOTT – UNLUCKY & WELL PLAYED IAN!

Thanks to Ken Symons for refereeing, and also to the NSC again for the use of the centre table!

08 Feb 2017Massey/Raper win close contest.

Tony Massey and Scott Raper joined Peter Lines and Johnathan Bagley in the final of the Leeds City Pairs after a 3-1 victory over Chris Hart and Stephen Broadhead at the Northern Snooker Centre. Trailing by 48 points Raper fashioned a superb 67 clearance to take the first frame before Hart/Broadhead made it 1-1 in a long tactical second frame. Massey then potted a long pink in a close third frame to make it 2-1,and it looked like going 2-2 with Hart/Broadhead 21 points up on the brown in the fourth. Massey however stepped up and held his nerve to take the last four colours for a 3-1 win.
The final takes place on Tuesday 21st February 7:30 at the NSC.

06 Feb 2017Lines/Bagley reach Leeds City Pairs final

Peter Lines and Johnathan Bagley defeated Ian Rayner and Jason Braithwaite in the first match of the LBSO finals series at the Northern Snooker Centre. Breaks of 44,37 and 30 from Lines put the ex-pros in command at 2-0 before a 31 break from Braithwaite looked to have pulled one back. However, Bagley had other ideas and a fine 49 clearance sealed the match 3-0. The second semi-final between Massey/Raper and Hart/Broadhead takes place tomorrow.
