01 Aug 2024**REMINDER - AGM - MONDAY 9th SEPTEMBER - SOUTH LEEDS CONS**

A reminder of the AGM to be held on Monday 9th September 2024 at South Leeds Conservative Club, starting officially at 7-45pm.

A copy of the complete and current LBSO league & competition rules are uploaded on the LBSO website - go to tab "About Us / Documents".
The rules with regards to AGM's, you will find on page 13 of the up to date version, which includes the rules about changes to the LBSO rules.

RULE CHANGES - Section 3 - 5:
As always, an integral part of the 2024 AGM will be proposed rule changes - additions, amendments or deletions.

ANY REGISTERED LBSO PLAYER may propose rule changes, but MUST following the current LBSO rule quoted directly below - any late proposals will NOT be accepted.

Section 3 - 5(b) "any proposed changes to any LBSO league & competition rules, shall be sent in writing or by email to the General Secretary, but no later than 14 days prior to the AGM."

THEREFORE-
1) NO PROPOSED RULE CHANGES WILL ACCEPTED AFTER 26th AUGUST.
2) ANY PROPOSALS RECEIVED AFTER THIS DATE WILL NOT APPEAR ON THE AGENDA.
3) ONLY THE PROPOSED RULE CHANGES WHICH APPEAR ON THE AGENDA WILL BE DISCUSSED AT THE ACTUAL AGM.

ANY REGISTERED LBSO PLAYER, may submit any proposed rule changes, AS FROM NOW (until 26th August).

IMPORTANT-
In addition, ANY PLAYER proposing ANY rule changes (applies to new rules or amendments to existing rules)-
> needs SPECIFIC wording as clear & as precise as possible.
>> so as to be ENFORCEABLE WITHOUT officials being present where LEAGUE or COMPETITION MATCHES are involved.
>>> giving reasons for the changes which are either personal or via a third party.
>>>> also giving reasons why the changes will benefit the LBSO as a whole, and not just the club of the proposer. &
>>>>> detailing any penalties - where appropriate - in the case of non-compliance with the new rule or as amended.

ALL DETAILS ABOUT RULE CHANGES will then be copied onto the official agenda for the AGM - which will be posted in its complete format on the website and circulated no later than 2nd September, again in accordance with the current AGM rules at page 13 of the attached document.

Finally, the rule proposer will then PERSONALLY PRESENT their proposed changes to those present at the AGM.

Any proposed rule changes will then be either accepted or rejected at the AGM by a vote, but ONLY by those PRESENT at the AGM.

Further details of the 2024 AGM will be posted on the website and circulated in this manner in due course.

14 Jul 2024**CASH PRIZES - PRESENTATION NIGHT THIS WEDNESDAY 17th JULY**

A list of all prize winners for the presentation on this coming Wednesday, is now attached to the website - click on tab "About Us / Documents".
The 6 snooker leagues reward the winners and runner-up only, whereas the MAJORITY of the LBSO competitions offer prizes for the semi-finalists as well.

MANY OF THE PRIZES WINNERS HAVE ASKED FOR CASH, WHICH ARE NOW CONSIDERABLE SUMS OF MONEY.
THEREFORE COULD I DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO THE CURRENT LBSO RULE ON THE SUBJECT OF CASH PRIZES WHICH READS AS FOLLOWS-
"Any cash prizes which are NOT claimed-:
• either before, on, or after the presentation night,
• but only up to the AGM,
will be forfeited and returned to the LBSO finances, to be accounted for on the balance sheet of the following season."

The current rule is NOT a 'money making exercise' at all, in fact it was agreed by delegates at the AGM in 2011, 13 years ago now.
During this time, fortunately the rule has only been enforced on a few occasions, although these few occasions seem to have been in more recent times.

THEREFORE, CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CASH PRIZE IS COLLECTED, IF NOT BY THOSE SHOWN ON THE PRIZE WINNERS SHEET, THEN BY SOMEBODY ELSE, EITHER AT THE ACTUAL PRESENTATION, OR AT THE AGM ON THE 9th SEPTEMBER THIS YEAR.

At the AGM, any uncollected cash prizes will be taken to the meeting, but as this is NOT an AGM agenda item, NO discussion will take place on the subject.

RELUCTANTLY, ANY CASH PRIZE STILL NOT COLLECTED AFTER THE AGM, WILL GO BACK INTO THE LBSO FINANCES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CURRENT LBSO RULE QUOTED ABOVE.

13 Jun 2024**Richard Binns - Leeds City Champion!**

Richard Binns (Belle Isle) claimed the Leeds City Championship Singles title last night in a thrilling encounter against Malcolm Bilclough (Horsforth Cons)

The season finale and a new name of the trophy beckoned, as neither player had previously won this title..

It was a flying start for Bilclough, quickly in the balls and he looked like he would take the first frame with a 40+ lead with Binns still yet to pot a ball. Back came the Belle Isle maestro with a superb 48 break to take the frame away from Bilclough to lead 1 – 0 (80 – 56)

Second frame was one traffic for Bilclough, again in the balls early in the frame and with a series of mini breaks either side of a 35 break, the frame was done and dusted 1 – 1 (3 – 71)

Third frame and once again, Bilclough dominant early stages and then some passages of potting from both players, Bilclough then fired a quick fire 37 break to take the frame and lead 2 – 1 going into the interval (34 – 58)

Forth frame resumed following the interval and this frame proved a pivotal moment with how the match turned. Again, Bilclough dominated, opening with a 40 break, but a couple of loose shots allowed Binns to get his arm going again and with a series of mini breaks he was back in the frame. Another loose shot from Bilclough allowed Binns the opportunity to close the deficit and when he potted the last red and black, all colours were on their spots to clear to the table. However, a poor positional shot from blue to pink spurred the chance. Frame not over, with pink and black still needed it was nervous snooker. A good pot on the pink from Binns meant a crucial black ball game which was massive in how the match would go… A series of good safety shots from both players and when Bilclough thought he had left the black safe on the cushion near the corner pocket, Binns produced the thinnest of clips that I don’t think Vidal Sassoon would have clipped to level the match 2 – 2 (66-57)

Fifth frame was an edgy frame, both players breaking down when in the balls, more so when Bilclough had a crucial kick just as you thought a sizeable break was beckoning. However, onto the colours and again Binns capitalised on a couple of errors and when he had the chance just needing blue and pink, he calmly stepped up and took the frame to now lead 3 – 2 (64 – 51)

Sixth and what would be the last frame of the evening… Binns dominant throughout, quickly acquiring a 40+ lead in the early stages and when presented with another chance a further 21 points were added, which eventually proved too much for Bilclough and hands were shaken.

Congratulations to Richard Binns on winning this title for the first time…

Thanks to NSC for hosting the final and all the finals this season.

Thanks also to Michael Davenport for officiating so professionally.
