I hope you have all enjoyed the summer break. The new season is nearing, the fixtures and league setup have been sent to Michael our website designer and hopefully should be showing on the website by the weekend.

Please take time to check your teams players for any wrong handicaps, all players were registered in team alphabetical order and in some cases players names had been repeated if you are not registered for the correct team please contact me to amend. Also please check your fixtures for any clashes I have repeatedly checked for any mistakes prior to sending to Michael but as captains / players of your respective teams you will be able to inform me if all is not right prior to the start of the season.

Can captains/delegates please check that your login details are still working if not please inform me.

As previously announced, this year's AGM is to held much nearer the start of the new season than normal.
THE AGM FOR SEASON 2015-16 WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY 5th SEPT 2016 AT HOLBECK WMC 7-45pm START - (SEASON TO START WEDS 7th SEPT).
It is anticipated the AGM will not take as long this year, but certain formalities still need to be addressed at the AGM, such as approving last year's minutes and this year's balance sheet as a true record, confirming the officials and adopting any rule changes for the forthcoming season. THEREFORE COULD ALL CLUBS MAKE SURE THEY ARE REPRESENTED BY SOMEBODY ATTENDING.
PROPOSED RULE CHANGES: If anyone has any proposed changes to any of the LBSO league or competition rules (both permanently housed on the website), could they be sent to Bob Patterson by email to arrive NO LATER than SUNDAY 21st AUGUST PLEASE!
The full agenda for the AGM, will then be displayed on the website in accordance with the rules.
ALSO on the same night, after the formalities of the AGM are concluded-:

This season's prizes will be presented at Bramley Band Club this coming Wednesday 13th July.
ALL PRIZE WINNERS CAN NOW BE VIEWED ON THE WEBSITE - go to "ABOUT US / DOCUMENTS".
Doors open on Wednesday from 7-00pm and as usual the prize presentation will be in 2 parts from approximately 8-15pm.
Bramley Band Club will offer the entertainment during the evening as well as providing a number of raffle prizes also.

It is with great sadness that we have to report the sudden and unexpected death of John Abson.
As some of you may already know via social media, 'Abbo' passed away suddenly last week.
He played for many years in the league out of Rothwell WMC and was a regular attendee at delegate meetings.
John's funeral will take place at 11am on Wednesday 6th July at Wakefield Crematorium, Standbridge Lane, Kettlethorpe, Wakefield WF4 3JA. The celebration of John's life will then continue afterwards at Rothwell WMC.

This year's Veteran's competition will takes place on TUESDAY 28th JUNE at the NORTHERN SNOOKER CENTRE to START at 10am.
As usual, the competition is only open to those 55 and over.
All matches will be 1 frame on handicap, and there will be a seperate plate competition for 1st round losers.
FREE ENTRY and as normal refreshments will also be available.
There will be CASH PRIZES for the WINNER & RUNNER-UP in BOTH competitions (to be paid on 13th July at the Presentation Evening).

The Final of the Windsor Trophy between Horsforth Conservatives and South Leeds Conservative Club will be played Wednesday 22nd June 2016 at Bramley Villagers, 7:30pm start.

The Semi-Final draw of the 3-Man Knockout has now been completed, Semi-Final fixtures to take place at Morley Conservative Club on Tuesday 14th June and Wednesday 15th June - 7:30pm Start.

The Draw is as follows:

Harehills Labour Club A v Peggy Tub Social Club A - 14th June,
Hunslet Carr Sports & Social A v Seacroft WMC A - 15th June.

The Final will take place Thursday 16th June 2016 at Morley Conservative Club - 7:30pm Start.

The final of the Len Lee Pairs was played on Thursday 19th May at the Northern Snooker Centre.
On paper the final could have gone either way with the Pairing of Bagley and Butterworth giving 58 start, but the handicapping system evened things up with Walker and Burden making it a highly entertaining game.
The first frame saw some good potting with Jonathan Bagley bringing the Harehills Labour pairing back into the frame with a 40 break. The first chance went to Tony Burden on the black but it was Bagley who sneaked it with a good pot into the yellow pocket.
The second frame went to the Crossgates Rec pairing, which went the way you would have expected with the massive start when Peter Walker extended their lead with 2 good visits early on in the frame to push their lead to 80 plus there then followed some excellent snookering but to no avail when Burden potted a good blue to kill off the fight back.
The third frame was once again dominated by the Crossgates duo who had the frame conceded to them with reds remaining after both Walker and Burden made good contributions to take the frame easily.
The fourth frame could have seen Walker and Burden take the title but an unlucky in off the brown gave the chance for Austin Butterworth to make a good clearance of the final four balls to take the match into a deciding frame.
The last frame started with a good safety bout from both pairings but it was Jonathan Bagley who made a crucial 60 break only ending with an unlucky in off a red which could have seen a century with the way the reds were scattered. This break only reduced the score to around even but the Harehills pairing proved too strong and edged the title in a very entertaining match.
