18 Jun 2019**Ryan Massey eases to Stan Brooke Singles title…..**

The final brought a young Ryan Massey against the veteran Tony Barker of Dennison Hall.
Ryan receiving a 40pt start per frame was always the favourite over the 3 frame aggregate rules.
The first frame saw both players playing with freedom with some good early exchange of pots, but it was Ryan that made the most and quick fire 24 break opened the advantage.
Tony tried to reduce the deficit clearing some of the colours, but Ryan potted the final black to have a big advantage after the 1st frame 49 – 112

Second frame started slowly, Tony made the most of some slack casual play from Ryan. With the scoreboard ticking over in favour of the Dennison Hall man, it looked like the deficit would be surely clawed back. But up stepped Ryan and a brilliantly crafted 26 break ensured the deficit remained and ultimately ended this contest. 56 – 83

So, onto the third frame and with a 90pt advantage plus his 40-start meant Tony was effectively 130 behind. The task was near impossible once Ryan picked off a couple of reds. Tony battled regardless but the task was too much, and a concession drew handshakes.

Well done to both players for playing in such good spirit!

Thanks to NSC for hosting the final and providing an excellent playing facility.
Thanks also to Alex Crum for officiating.

11 Jun 2019**Binns claims the Len Lee Invitation Final!**

Richard Binns of Belle Isle claimed to title last night with a 4-0 victory over Liam Barlow of Dennison Hall….
1st frame started very edgy, neither player making anything from the chances left by either opponent. Little flurries of single pots either way, but it was Binns taking the last Brown, Blue and Pink to take to lead 1 – 0

2nd Frame started more positively by Binns quickly opening up a lead with succession of small breaks, but then a couple of fouls allowed Liam back in helped with some good pots himself. It was Binns to take the initiative with a solid 26 break to ease the 2nd frame to lead 2 – 0

3rd Frame started like the first, chance after chance players missing relatively easy pots to gain the advantage, but some errors by Barlow missing an easy blue to middle when frame was at his mercy allowed Binns to take the Blue and Pink to lead 3 – 0

4th and effectively last frame and it was Binns started to find the extra gear, opening up with a fine 32 break, but a foul allowed Barlow back at the table, but again a loose shot meant Binns was back in the balls with a 22 break and Liam never really got over the early missed opportunities which enabled Binns to take the frame and Len Lee Invitation Title.

Thanks to NSC for hosting and producing an excellent playing facility and to Alex Crum for refereeing.

05 Jun 2019##Harehills Labour win Champion of Champions##

Tonight at Horsforth Cons, Harehills Labour A took on Tinshill and Cookridge A in the final of the Champion of Champions competition.
First up at no4 were Adam Rennison (13) for Harehills and Jamie Manojlovic (25) for Tinshill, on the other table it was the no3 players, Steve Parlour (11) for Harehills and Ian Spink (24) for Tinshill.
Manojlovic won the first frame to finish (83-57), and it looked like going 2-0 to Tinshill as Spink built a healthy lead going into the colours. Parlour had other ideas though and he drew on all his experience to lay several snookers which enabled him to claw his way back into the frame. He eventually potted the last three colours to pinch the frame on the black and level the match 1-1 (69-68).
In the second round of frames Rennison found his potting boots and finished with a flourish to draw his match 1-1 (81-30) and put Harehills into a 2-1 lead.
Meanwhile Parlour was grinding out another win in his second frame and at the halfway stage it was 3-1 to Harehills.
Next up it was Luke Campey (-12) for Harehills against Tinshill's Jonathan Shaw (19) at no2 and Danny Dean (-17) against Tinshill's no1 Wayne Gledhill (3).
Campey and Shaw's first frame went down to the wire, Campey potting a terrific length of the table black down the cushion to sneak it 69-64 and make the match score 4-1.
Meanwhile on the other table Danny Dean was systematically freezing out his opponent and despite conceding 20 points start ended up winning the frame comfortably 81-36 and sealed the match for Harehills 5-1.Congratulations to Harehills Labour.
Thanks to Horsforth Cons for staging the match, to Mick Jensen for marking and to Michael Davenport and Kenny Symons for officiating.

04 Jun 2019##Tinshill's Jon Shaw and Martin Golden are Stan Brooke Pairs Champions##

Last night's Stan Brooke Pairs Final saw Jon Shaw and Martin Golden receiving 14 points per frame from Morley WMC duo Daniel Grimes and Andy Taffinder.
It was the more experienced Taffinder who settled first and a run of 17 quickly reduced the arrears. That was as good as it got for the Morley pairing however as a string of small contributions from Jon Shaw gave the frame to Shaw/Golden 72-52.
The second frame was another tight affair,Grimes potting a good Black to win the frame by 13 and reduce the arrears to just 7 points going into the final game.
Shaw/Golden started well but their opponents came back and it was anybody's match going into the colours.
Martin Golden eventually potted Brown and Blue to leave their opponents needing a snooker, but up stepped Andy Taffinder to lay a lovely snooker on pink and black which was missed to put them back in the match.A loose safety shot then left pink over the pocket and Martin Golden held his nerve to pot the pink and seal the match.
Overall score was 229-212.
Thanks to Alex Crumm for officiating and to the NSC for use of the facilities.
